Many attempts to quit smoking focus mainly on the physical withdrawal. That is understandable. But it is often the mental habits that cause people to relapse. As long as those patterns remain, quitting smoking can feel like something you have to suppress instead of something you control.
That is why the guidance focuses not only on the physical withdrawal, but especially on recognising and breaking the automatic patterns behind smoking. As a result, quitting smoking becomes less about holding on and more about understanding and changing.
